My very first C64 multicolor image.

This was originally meant to be a fairy
in a giant mushroom fantasy forest, but as seen in the stages, that changed along the way... :)

While working the lady began to look kind of evil, while I couldn't get fairy wings to look like I wanted. Then those mushrooms started to feel like a scale and theme mismatch, deadline was literally approaching - it was time to shift thinking...

I usually prefer to keep the momentum going rather than getting stuck on an idea, getting frustrated and losing the fun, if something doesn't work within a reasonable timeframe/effort. As Halloween is approaching, the more horror'y imagery was an easy direction to take.

As a funny (?) sidenote, right before the end, my image also had a crow sitting on that tombstone (which I moved to a tree on the background), an arm sticking out from the ground and a pumpkin in the corner - all elements that Jade's excellent (and my favorite in the whole compo) Don't Shit on My Grave! -image had as well. Almost like wearing the same dress to a party, phew!

There's a color shift in stages as I switched from Pepto palette to Colodore in Multipaint while working and just used the images I had saved along the way for the gif.
