People get drunk at times and code etc. I bet Jan was drunk and his new Barbiedoll coded this for him, whilst he was sleeping XD

So much effort for this "tune"? >_<

missed opportunity to at least sync the visuals to the sound somewhat. oh well. piggy :)

Tried the brute force approach:

Wrote a small test program that banks out IO, resets the tune and then repeatedly calls 1003 and dumps the d400 range to 0400, then call a subroutine 5 times that calls 1006 and compared d400 with 0400... As Ian said, no change in sound is done by calling 1006... Very strange indeed...

Apart from that, very cool tune ;)

"this music runs in 6 speed"
It doesn't seem to me, if anything it's a weird 2x: $1003 is called once per frame and on another raster line it executes 5 times jsr $1006 (at $C21C) but seems that calling $1006 has no effect whatsoever, can be safely replaced with rts at $1006 and no difference can be heard. Setting init $1000 play $1003 has no difference than making it 1000/1003+5*1006. No idea what's happening here.

Finding it really hard to comment as I don't want to come off like this is the best I've heard on C64.
So I'll remain neutral and show how excited it made me with a vote.
Amazing work Sidwave..

seriously, it's great epic art! 8 for the visuals and 10 for the music

people who think it's some minimalistic techno that loops after a few minutes: nope, this one runs quite long!
