Group id #33 : Ikari

On the page the group is said to have been founded in July 1987, but there are releases dating from January 1987.
So, anyone know when Ikari was actually founded?

I am sure Just Ice can tell you that, he will probably read this.

Probably. I found it strange that he haven't already corrected it though.

Let's wait & see...

I recently uploaded about 50 various cracks imported by my groups.

A few people have said that they belong under C64 Cracks instead of Games. They were put as Games because we did not actually crack them, Ikari did (amongst a few other groups). I didn't feel right adding a Crack.

The Ikari releases have been reverted back to Cracks, I still have to do the Rampar and Public Enemy ones. If you have any other changes to be made, PM me and I'll do this.

CBA and Acidchild should also have access to make these changes, I won't be around in the next few weeks.

These entries remain locked and will remain locked. I don't like the open concept idea because my entires have been the victim of vandalism before :)

So just leave one of us three a note and they should be fixed in due course. I'll gladly modify them, but won't open them up for public modification just as Ikari locks their original files too.

Well if it wasnt a crack you did then you did an import or ntsc fix?

At that time games were imported and hardly fixed,
anyways,

C64 Crack

is the best category for those cracks,
everybody can see it's imported because the other
group listed is an american/canadian group.

When the game is fixed I always do title [pal/ntsc]
and ofcourse add FIX credits to the person that has
fixed it.

e.g. Star Fighter +5 [pal/ntsc]

I've been thinking about imports vs european releases & think that we should "mark" the imports to distinguish them from the european releases in the release lists on the group pages.
This will make it easier to spot duplicate entries.
Perhaps add [import] after the name, or maybe the name of the import group?

I respect ur choice to keep ur entries locked but how can we update the releases if the credits are incomplete (and locked)?
have a look:
http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=24483&show=notes
if u lock ur entries I reckon u also have the responsibility to go and check them every now and then and update the release if it is nescesary.

my point is: entries shouldn't be locked if the credits aren't complete.

Matt, I agree that the entries are incomplete (side note: I added the credits per your comment in After Life).

If you can imagine having to go through just 50 demos, 3 pages apiece (estimated) that's 150 pages, looking for music credits or scanning memory for the author's name. In some cases I can identify the author, in others, I can't.

Up until this week I have never heard any complaints for any of my entries and I've been on here for about three years.

As I stated, I will update the credits if I am PRIVATE MESSAGED but I don't have the time or patience to view each of the over 200 releases for the comments added to them.

I am not comfortable with the open trust concept. I've seen my groups get votes of '1' from anonymous people and entries deleted on me.

We could also get into fonts and logos used in the character sets, which would mean entries hopelessly unlocked forever.

I've added about 200 entries, locked them, and it takes as much time to add a credit as it does to private message me.

The integrity of my ex-group's releases has to be considered too. So just send a PM if you see something you'd like changed. Alternatively you could try CBA or Acidchild who also have permissions for the files. I'm not against other people modifying the entries, I just want to be able to TRUST them.

Zyron: I try to differentiate between imports by adding "(US Import)" to the title so that people know the difference, especially when it comes to Ikari entries.

never really thought about PM'ing you haha that could have done the trick I know :)

anyway, I definitely agree with your arguments about locking your own added entries. next time, I guess I'll just send you a PM instead.

but BEWARE, if u don't adjust the entries, then, you'll be really sorry! (you know, kicking your sorry arse and all that kind of jazz)

;-)

cheers

Does anybody know, sure I don't and I also don't know if it has been asked before.
But why is Ikari a Danish group when it was found by two Englishmen?
That doesn't make sense to me and I'm sure someone has the answer here :-)

What doesn't make sense it's your assertion, who said it's a Danish group? It's an international group founded by 2 englishmen and then they also got members in Denmark.
